Princess Kako, the second daughter of Prince Akishino and his wife, attended a national convention of sign language performance by high school students held in Tottori Prefecture, and gave a speech using sign language.

Princess Kako, who has been visiting Tottori Prefecture since the 24th, arrived at the venue of "Sign Language Performance Koshien" in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture at 9 am on the 25th.

Princess Kako has attended the tournament almost every year since the first tournament in 2014, but it was the first time in three years that she was able to visit the venue because it was held online due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

At the opening ceremony, while using sign language, Princess Kako was concerned about the restrictions on practice due to the effects of the coronavirus, and expressed her hope that the understanding of sign language would be further deepened.

At the tournament, about 140 high school students from 15 teams who won the preliminary round performed performances such as theater and dance that incorporated sign language, and Princess Kako was applauded in sign language along with other spectators.

There was also a scene where the team who finished the performance showed a portrait of Princess Kako, and Princess Kako conveyed her gratitude in sign language.
