Mr. Tsukamoto, along with former employees of a major securities company, pretended to be a sole proprietor and falsely claimed that his business income had decreased significantly due to the impact of the new coronavirus. He was arrested and charged with fraud.



Acknowledging the content of the indictment at the trial held this month, the prosecution said in its opening statement, ``A former employee of the National Taxation Bureau approached me to help fraudulently receive sustainable benefits, and I lied about the fraudulent benefits.
