China News Service, Changchun, September 18 (Reporter Guo Jia) The Jilin Provincial Meteorological Bureau and the Jilin Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly issued a frost disaster risk warning on the evening of the 18th, reminding farmers to actively take relevant measures to minimize losses.

According to the Jilin Provincial Meteorological Bureau, since the 18th, the temperature in Jilin Province has dropped significantly compared with the previous period.

From the 18th to the 20th, the temperature in Jilin Province continued to be low, and the daily average temperature was about 11.5 °C, which was about 2 °C lower than the same period of the year.

On the morning of the 20th to the 21st, the minimum temperature in Jilin City, Liaoyuan City, Tonghua City, Baishan City, and most of Yanbian Prefecture is generally 0℃-2℃, and some townships can reach 0℃ or below.

At present, the main grain crops in Jilin Province are close to maturity, and the grains and beans are basically mature. However, due to the superimposition of unfavorable meteorological conditions such as drought and low temperature in the early stage, there are still plots that develop later in the province.

This frost process will adversely affect the grain-filling maturation of the greedy and late-maturing plots.

It is expected that the risk of frost damage will be high in most of Jilin City, Liaoyuan City, Tonghua City, and Yanbian Prefecture in the morning of the 20th and 21st, and the risk of frost damage in Baishan City will be high.

The Jilin Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Jilin Provincial Meteorological Bureau jointly suggested that for the greedy young and late-maturing and low-lying plots that are easily affected by early frost, select the appropriate time according to the terrain and wind direction, and adopt artificial smoke and frost prevention methods to change the local ambient temperature. Reduce early frost damage.

Paddy fields should take measures such as irrigating deep water to maintain the ground temperature, and after the frost, drain the fields in time to promote the rise of ground temperature and prolong the time of crops in the field.

Jilin Province, one of the three largest black soil regions in the world, is China's main grain producing area and an important commercial grain base, with a grain sown area of more than 86 million mu.

In 2021, the grain output will reach 80.784 billion catties, the growth rate will rank first among the top ten grain-producing provinces in the country, and the total output will rank fifth in the country.
