Recently, at the construction site of Section 4 of the 3rd Division Section of the 3rd Division Tumshuke City-14th Division Kunyu City Highway (hereinafter referred to as the Tukun Desert Highway) of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 18 locomotives are on the verge of death. Working in the Taklimakan Desert, known as the "Sea", large bulldozers were lined up in the yellow sand to level the tall dunes, and the scene was shocking.

The Tukun Desert Highway is an important part of the Xinjiang and Xinjiang Corps highway network. The highway is 276 kilometers long and runs through the western edge of the Taklimakan Desert from north to south.

It is not only a trunk road between Tumshuke City of the 3rd Division and Kunyu City of the 14th Division, but also an important trunk line passage in the reclamation area in the "14th Five-Year Plan" comprehensive transportation development plan of the Xinjiang Corps. It is planned to be completed by the end of 2023.

It is reported that compared with the desert roads built in the past, the Tukun Desert Highway faces many tall and large sand hills. The sand hills in the area where the road under construction passes are denser and taller, with a maximum height of more than 30 meters.

After the project is completed, the distance between Tumshuke City and Kunyu City will be shortened from about 600 kilometers to about 276 kilometers.

It will not only further promote the economic development of the two cities of Tumshuke and Kunyu, but also play an important role in promoting the economic and social development along the route and improving the living standards of the local people.
