[Concurrent] Zhang Haiyuan, the fifth-generation descendant of Lao Anshun's hand-pulled pot

This set of pots is called Four Generations Together. This pot was made by my grandfather when I was seventy-eight or nine years old. This pot was made by my father about fifteen years ago. This pot was made by me, about three Made this four years ago, this one was made by my son two or three years ago when he was supposed to be eighteen.

[Explanation] In Xitang Village, Chaozhou, Guangdong, Zhang Haiyuan stepped on a reel and used the power of rotation with both hands to pull the billet into a pot.

Zhang Haiyuan was born in a family of pot art, and is the fifth-generation descendant of the "Old Anshun" hand-pulled pot in the Qing Dynasty.

He told reporters the story of the family "kneading" the years into the hand-pulled pot.

Our family's time-honored brand is called Lao Anshun. My generation has five generations. My ancestors have been doing this, and it has a history of more than 100 years.

[Explanation] Chaozhou Fengxi hand-pulled Zhu mud pot is a national intangible cultural heritage.

In Zhang Haiyuan's studio, thousands of works that he has been in art for more than 30 years are displayed here.

Zhang Haiyuan is known as the "Master of Pot Art and Magic" in the industry. Ingenious design is his forte. Here you can see Dunhuang pots, Olympic pots, World Expo pots, and thatched pots inspired by Du Fu's Thatched Cottage.

Look at the texture of this pot. We created this pot after we came back from Du Fu Thatched Cottage in Chengdu. The body of the pot is a house. The walls of the house are made of mud, and the roof is made of grass texture. Yes, one side of the house is planted with bamboo and the other side is planted with pine trees.

[Explanation] Zhang Haiyuan, who was born in the 1970s, began to learn pot making at the age of 8. He learned from his grandfather Zhang Yongtian and his father Zhang Yanming. The whole life of his family has been accompanied by "pots".

Behind the practice of a pair of skillful hands that move with one's heart and create infinite creations is the most traditional and strictest craftsmanship in the history of the family.

At that time, I remember when I was young, I learned to knead the soil from the very beginning, step on it with my feet, and step on a pile with my feet. At that time, I remembered that no matter whether it was winter or summer, anyway, I was covered in sweat when I stepped on the soil, and the sweat flowed to the ground. It's in the soil. When I was learning to make a pot, I didn't say that when you want to go down to pull the pot, you should go down to pull the pot. While (father) is eating snacks, you should immediately go down to pull and learn.

My father left me a word, strict, strict strict.

Really, every time he does something, including himself, he said that to do it well, it must be done to the extreme, and it must be completed.

So at this point, I think I really have to learn from him, including some of the pots he has made now, we still sometimes take them out and study them.

[Explanation] In Zhang Haiyuan's childhood memories, there were often villagers who went out to find their grandfather and father to make pots, expressing their homesickness.

In the 1930s, the trend of tea drinking in Chaozhou prevailed, and the hand-pulled pots also followed the tide merchants to go to the international market.

Today, there are also works by Zhang Haiyuan in specialty stores in the UK.

After visiting Zhang's house many years ago, the master of Chinese studies Jao Tsung-I inscribed the words "Five dynasties share the same pot".

This is the calligraphic treasure that Professor Jao Tsung-I gave me at that time, the same pot for five generations. I think this is a kind of spur and encouragement from him.

[Explanation] The creation is inexhaustibly inherited.

In addition to his personal creations, Zhang Haiyuan is also teaching in the studio, teaching students to pull pots by hand.

The real works are only called works if they have been passed down through the test of time.

Our industry should be better in the future.

You need to have a deeper understanding of the aesthetics of young people after the 1990s and 2000s. After understanding this big data and developing it accurately, let them like these things, and then let them understand our traditional culture. Let us be the growth point of this business in the future.
