With its library room, its garden and its precious collections, the Richelieu site of the National Library of France in Paris reopens with delight this Saturday, after 12 years of work, for Heritage Days.

Europe 1 invites you to discover some of its treasures in pictures.

The emerald pendant of Catherine de Medici, the manuscript of Notre-Dame de Paris, the Gameboy Color, and even recordings of the voice of Colette... In the Richelieu site of the National Bank of France, 900 objects are presented on the 40 million documents kept by the BNF.

Treasures exhibited in a setting of beauty whose renovation lasted 12 years and cost 260 million euros, while the site reopens this Saturday on the occasion of Heritage Days.

Looking up, you can see the collections but also on the frescoes on the ceilings.

Louis Joberti is part of the team that led the renovation work.

"The library does not only have printed books. It also has maps, prints of photography, theater costumes ...", he lists at the microphone of Europe 1.

The Oval Room, the jewel of the site

The Oval room appears as the jewel of the site: a library room, 18 meters high, open to all and to the sky thanks to its huge glass roof.

A total of 9,000 comics and manga await the public.

The armchairs and sofas are very comfortable, enough to become a real bookworm!
