An important part of the traffic trunk line in the northern part of the Greater Bay Area - the Liuxi River Bridge on the Cong (Hua) (Huang) Pu Expressway closed on September 16.

As a key project of the 13th Five-Year Plan for the development of the comprehensive transportation system in Guangdong Province, Congpu Expressway is an important part of the transportation trunk line in the northern part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to reports, the total length of the Congpu Expressway project route is 61.71 kilometers, and it will be implemented in two phases.

Among them, the Liuxi River Bridge constructed by the China Railway Bridge Bureau is one of the controlled projects of the Congpu Expressway project. The main bridge of the bridge adopts a continuous rigid frame to span the Liuxi River. The largest cantilevered beam section weighs 199.2 tons.

Liuxi River is an important drinking water source protection area and ecological environment protection area in Guangzhou. Because the bridge spans the Liuxi River, many requirements such as ecological environmental protection and soil and water conservation must be strictly implemented during the construction process.

During the construction process, the project department will divert the construction sewage and conduct secondary treatment to set up a permanent sedimentation tank, collect bridge drainage, filter and then discharge and other treatment measures to prevent construction pollution from affecting the water quality of Liuxi River.

The closure of the Liuxihe Bridge is a key link for the opening of the Congpu Expressway in 2023. After the expressway is completed and opened to traffic, it will ease the traffic pressure on the Jiebei Expressway, the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and the Guangzhou Ring Expressway.
