Before noon on the 16th, on the coast of Katsurahama in Kochi City, a university student who was visiting for sightseeing was swept away by the waves and went missing.


Due to the influence of Typhoon No. 14, a high wave warning was issued in Kochi Prefecture, and Katsurahama also had high waves from the morning.

According to the Kochi Coast Guard Department and others, around 11:00 am on the 16th, a 20-year-old university student who was playing on the beach on the east side of the parking lot of Katsurahama Park in Kochi City was swept away by a large wave.



Firefighters, the Japan Coast Guard, and the police dispatched helicopters and drones to search until around 5:30 p.m., but the university students were not found.



The university student was visiting from Hyogo Prefecture with two friends for sightseeing.



According to the Kochi Local Meteorological Observatory, a high wave warning was issued for the entire prefecture on the 16th due to Typhoon No. 14, and even Katsurahama had high waves from the morning.



The Japan Coast Guard and the police have decided to resume the search from 6:00 am on the 17th, but due to the strong winds and high waves due to the typhoon, helicopters and boats will not be dispatched on the 17th, and they will continue along the coast. It means searching.
