The eleventh edition, which focused on the theme "Landscape & Biodiversity", crowned the Bruche Valley (Alsace) as the French capital of biodiversity for the year.

But four other municipalities were also rewarded: Angers, therefore, but also Saint-Chamas (Bouches-du-Rhône), Saintes (Charente-Maritime) and Laroque-des-Albères (Pyrénées-Orientales).

Parks, gardens and mini-gardens

Angers has distinguished itself by its know-how in horticulture and landscaping, but also by its evolution according to biodiversity issues.

Large parks such as Balzac or Saint-Nicolas were highlighted by the jury, as was the urban micro-forest of Grésillé.

The 505 mini-gardens set up in front of the dwellings were also given pride of place.

The 2023 edition of this competition, on the theme "Trees & Forests", is already open.

It is possible to apply until January 31, 2023 on www.capitalebiodiversite.fr.
