Simón repeated the candidacy
, since she was chosen with her film
Verano 1993
to represent Spain at the
Oscars
in 2018, although she finally did not make the cut.
On this occasion, the director assured upon learning of her preselection that "there is a lot of difference" because then they were "very new" and now she has "more support."
The film's producer,
María Zamora
, confirmed that this time they were "much more prepared in advance."
Alcarràs
has been sold to more than 50 countries
, Simón "is considered a world director" and the idea is to release the film in the
United States
in commercial theaters in 2023. It will also go to the
New York Film Festival
.
