WhatsApp is testing a new search feature for messages “by date”

The popular messaging application “WhatsApp” is testing a new search feature that gives iPhone users a new option to view messages sent by a specific date.

And according to a report published by WABetainfo, the “WhatsApp” app for iOS may soon get a new search by date feature that allows users to search a message with a specific date.

The new feature also allows users to filter search results by dates.

Currently, the popular application displays many results after typing a name or number in the dedicated search box within the application, for all operating systems.

WABetaInfo also shared screenshots explaining the feature and showing a new (calendar icon) position just above the keyboard.

In order to use the option to search for a message with a specific date, the user needs to tap on this “calendar icon” on the iPhone.

The screenshots also showed that the calendar icon will open with a single click, and then a date picker will appear to select any month, date and year;

What enables the user in the end to access a specific message that he wants to search for it with ease.

The report indicated that the feature has not been released to beta testers yet, but clarified that it is scheduled to be rolled out in a beta version of the iOS messaging application with the number (22.19.0.73).

According to the report, the new feature is currently under development, and its official launch is not yet known.

It is reported that this feature was under development two years ago, but the plan to roll it out to the masses was postponed, for no apparent reason.
