The German Association of Pediatricians and Adolescents said that head lice most often infect children of kindergarten and primary school age, and are usually transmitted from one child to another through physical contact.

She stressed the need to eliminate lice as soon as they appear, and this can be done with two substances, the first: it works on the insect's nervous system, and the second blocks its breathing holes.

The first material is based on a chemical plant base, while the other is based on silicone oil.

It is often recommended to use silicone oil because lice are not resistant to it, in contrast to drugs that act on the insect’s nervous system, which showed resistance to it over time.

Do not use home remedies such as vinegar and mayonnaise or even use a dryer, as it does not harm the scalp.

A sufficient amount of the treated substance should be placed on the hair and left for a long time, in order for it to have its desired effect.

A common mistake is applying the treatment to wet hair, which may limit the effect of the treatment.

Therefore, the medicine should be applied to dry hair, with no towels wrapped on the child's head, so as not to absorb the treatment and negatively affect its effect.

After applying the medication, the hair is rinsed and combed strand by strand by a comb designated for lice, taking into account the hair is combed every four days for two weeks.

The association stressed the need for a second treatment, which is often on the ninth or 10th day;

In the first treatment, the insect is eliminated, not the eggs, which the insect has already laid;

The larvae can hatch until the eighth day, and from the eleventh day the females begin to lay eggs again.

Missing the 9th or 10th day timeframe risks starting everything over.

Cleaning.. even dolls

Combs, brushes, and hair clips should be washed in hot, soapy water and not used for several days. Children's linens, clothes and towels should be washed in a washing machine at 60°C.

For cloth dolls, they should be placed in a sealed plastic bag for three days.

• Infection of the child's head with lice requires him to stay at home and not go to kindergarten or school until the insect is eliminated.
