The Queen's death affects the famous Netflix series "The Crown"

The Netflix platform announced the temporary suspension of filming of its series "The Crown" Friday, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, according to the American magazine "Variety".

The sixth season of the successful series, which deals with the life of Queen Elizabeth II at the head of the most famous royal family in the world, is currently being filmed.

The work highlights the scandals that affected this family as well as the political crises the Queen faced and the relationship she had with her husband Philip.

"In a respectful gesture, the filming of (The Crown) has been suspended today (Friday)," a Netflix spokesperson told AFP.

"Filming will also be suspended on the day of the Queen's funeral," he added, while a large number of officials from the streaming platform are attending this week's Toronto International Film Festival.

The first season of the Emmy Award-winning series, which is an award for television work that is as important as the Oscars, kicked off with a notable event, the marriage of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1947.
