The Consumer Affairs Agency said that selling supplements as if they could boost immunity and prevent infection and aggravation of the new coronavirus was a "misrecognition of superiority" under the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations. We issued an order to the sales company to take measures to prevent recurrence.

The order was given to Yamada Bee Farm, a beekeeping business and mail-order sales of honey and other products in Kagamino Town, Okayama Prefecture.

According to the Consumer Affairs Agency, regarding the supplement "vitamin D + zinc", the company posted on its website in November last year, "Watch out for the new coronavirus" 6th wave "I want to prevent both <infection> and <severity>. … in response to customer feedback.”

In addition, regarding supplements containing propolis and royal jelly, in December last year and February this year, direct mail was displayed saying, ``It may speed up recovery from the new coronavirus infection.'' It was advertised as if the body's immunity was enhanced and the infection and aggravation of the new coronavirus could be prevented.

When the Consumer Affairs Agency requested the submission of documents that serve as evidence, foreign papers on ingredients and effects were submitted, but they were not recognized as rational evidence.

For this reason, the Consumer Affairs Agency has ordered the company to take measures to prevent recurrence, etc., saying that it corresponds to "misrecognition of superiority" based on the Premiums and Misleading Representation Act.

In an interview with NHK, Yamada Bee Farm said, ``We take the order seriously, and we would like to review the content of the display, and at the same time, work to build a management system to prevent a recurrence.'' I am commenting.
