Sir Elton John posted a statement on social media half an hour after the death announcement.
“Along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
She was inspiring to be around, and has led the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace, decency and a genuine caring warmth.”
Queen Elizabeth was portrayed multiple times on film and TV.
