Californian Oscar winner Nicolas Cage has become a father again in his old age.

The 58-year-old's wife, Riko Shibata, gave birth to Francesca Coppola Cage on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

"Mother and daughter are doing well," confirmed a spokesman for the offspring.

Cage, who already has two adult sons from previous relationships, married his fifth wife Shibata a year and a half ago in the gambling city of Las Vegas (Nevada).

The couple met in 2020 while filming the thriller Prisoners Of The Ghostland in Asia, in which the 27-year-old played a minor role.

After announcing the pregnancy earlier this year, Cage revealed in the spring that he would be the father of a daughter for the first time.

"This is going to be the greatest adventure of my life," the actor told singer and host Kelly Clarkson's talk show at the time.

In the past, Cage has had little luck privately.

His marriages to Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie and stylist Erika Koike were short-lived.

Connections with actresses Patricia Arquette and Alice Kim also ended before the divorce court.

Cage, a scion of the Californian directing dynasty Coppola, remains optimistic.

“I know five marriages is a lot.

But I think I got it right this time," he told the Los Angeles Times.
