On Thursday, the corridors of the Damascus Opera House witnessed a complete chaos, punctuated by scenes of fights and stampedes among the attendees, who flocked since the morning hours to buy tickets for a concert that the Egyptian artist Hani Shaker is scheduled to perform next week, according to footage shown by Syrian pages on social networks.

Local media and activists on the communication sites published photos and videos showing a fist fight and a stampede for dozens of people gathered at the box office after the outer door was broken by the force of the stampede.

In a video interview with the local newspaper, Al-Watan, a man said, "I came since twelve o'clock at night, and I slept in my car to be the first to arrive in the morning."

"We stayed for four hours standing at the door before it broke and chaos erupted," he added.

"I came at seven in the morning and got a ticket with difficulty," said a woman who did not hide the happy expression on her face.

The Damascus Opera House announced the start of announcing the concert tickets since Thursday morning at ten o'clock, but dozens gathered in the early morning hours to buy tickets.

The house later announced a second concert for the Egyptian singer, "due to the great demand" for the first episode scheduled for September 15.
