"Brother Wenchuan" Zhang Zili with a baby in his arms moved the whole network

He was rescued in the Wenchuan earthquake and is now guarding Luding

A picture of a young forest firefighter holding a two-month-old baby evacuated from Wandong Village, Detuo Town, Luding County during the search and rescue process in the earthquake-stricken area of Luding moved the entire Internet on September 7.

On his epaulette, there is the word "Wenchuan", and many netizens call him "Brother Wenchuan".

It is understood that "Brother Wenchuan", named Zhang Zili, is a forest firefighter of the Wenchuan Brigade of Aba Forest Fire Detachment. The forest fire rescue mission in Hejiang County, Luzhou and the rescue of the Luding earthquake.

In 2008, 6-year-old Zhang Zili, who lives in Mao County, Aba Prefecture, experienced the Wenchuan Earthquake.

During that earthquake, his family's house collapsed, and the PLA and fire rescue personnel helped to tide over the difficulties.

14 years later, Zhang Zili has grown into a forest firefighter.

He said: "Because I experienced the "5.12" Wenchuan earthquake before, I wanted to be a soldier when I grew up and save people like them (rescue team members)."

"I want to save people when I grow up"

On May 12, 2008, an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 occurred in Wenchuan, and Zhang Zili was just in the first grade of primary school.

He was in physical education at school when the earthquake struck.

"I was on the mountain at the time, and I felt that the whole mountain was shaking." Zhang Zili recalled that he didn't know what happened and felt scared. Later, he learned that the house at home had also collapsed while the ground was shaking.

"That night, we randomly set up a shed outside to sleep." Zhang Zili told reporters that the People's Liberation Army and fire rescue personnel came later, and they set up tents for everyone and delivered supplies.

"The most impressive thing is watching the helicopter drop supplies. Because I haven't seen a helicopter before, I think it's very strange."

"I want to save people when I grow up." In the heart of 6-year-old Zhang Zili, he silently planted such a "seed".

Thirteen years later, he saw the information on the recruitment of forest fire protection on the Internet, and immediately signed up, and finally got his wish.

At 12:52 on September 5, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred in Luding, and Zhang Zili was taking a lunch break in the dormitory.

Soon, his brigade received a mission to support the epicenter.

"If the brigade did not arrange for me to participate in the rescue, I would also take the initiative to apply. Because I have experienced the Wenchuan earthquake, I know that the local people are waiting for us and expecting us, and I will rush to them as soon as possible."

"I don't dare to use force when holding him"

At around 17:00 on September 6, rescuers from the Aba Forest Fire Detachment went over mountains and ridges to enter a group of search and rescue trapped people in Wandong Village.

When Zhang Zili and his teammates searched and rescued, they found an old man and a baby sitting on the rubble waiting to be rescued.

The old man was older, and it was obviously difficult to get up with the baby in his arms. Zhang Zili hurried up to pick up the baby.

"The little boy looked very small, and he didn't dare to use any force when he was holding him. He just wanted to get him to a safe place quickly." Zhang Zili held the baby in his arms and walked down the ruins carefully. The water rescue channel successfully transferred the children and the elderly from Group 1 of Wandong Village and transferred them to local medical institutions for further treatment.

"It's an honor to hear everyone calling me 'Brother Wenchuan' until I finish the mission, but I think every comrade who is fighting on the front line is Big Brother Wenchuan." Zhang Zili said, "retrograde" is his responsibility. I have saved, and I want to save more people, "Maybe one day, the child I held will become a firefighter."

"I will do my best for any rescue in the future. This is my responsibility and my ideal." Zhang Zili said.
