The reporter learned from the Emergency Management Department on the 6th that in view of the seriousness of the disaster, the State Council Earthquake Relief Command Office and the Emergency Management Department have raised the national earthquake emergency response level to Level 2.

  At 12:52 on the 5th, an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan, with a focal depth of 16 kilometers.

As of 20:30 on the 5th, the earthquake had killed 46 people (including 29 people in Ganzi Prefecture and 17 people in Ya'an City), and 16 people lost contact.

The earthquake caused serious injuries to 64 people and minor injuries to 82 people in Ganzi Prefecture.

  According to the analysis by the Sichuan Earthquake Administration, the earthquake was a strike-slip type earthquake, with the epicenter about 4 kilometers away from the Xianshuihe fault.

According to statistics, as of 7:00 on September 6, a total of 10 aftershocks of magnitude 3.0 and above were recorded, including 0 earthquakes of magnitude 6.0-6.9, 0 earthquakes of magnitude 5.0-5.9, and earthquakes of magnitude 4.0-4.9 1, 9 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0-3.9, and the largest aftershock is 4.2.

  Appointed by the leaders of the central government, Wang Xiangxi, deputy commander of the State Council Earthquake Relief Headquarters and director of the Emergency Management Department, led the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Transport, The working group of the State Council Earthquake Relief Headquarters, composed of the National Health Commission, the Ministry of Emergency Management and other departments, went to the earthquake area to guide and support the earthquake relief work in Sichuan.

  In view of the seriousness of the disaster, the State Council Earthquake Relief Command Office and Emergency Management Department raised the national earthquake emergency response level to Level 2.

The National Disaster Reduction Commission and the Ministry of Emergency Management have raised the national disaster relief emergency response level to Level III.
