La Besace (Ardennes) and its 130 inhabitants have recently been confronted with a major water shortage.

The Town Hall therefore decided to cut off running water during the day during the last weekend of August to better distribute the precious liquid among users, reports Radio 8 Ardennes.

The consumption of households and operators would have partly exhausted the two sources available to the municipality, explained the first deputy mayor, waxed by France 3 Grand Est.

An operator whose well broke down was also forced to "pull the network", which contributed to depleting the water tower's reserves.

Drinking water delivery

The cast has since been reinstated.

The mayor, Jean-Hugues Louis, had 60 m3 of drinking water delivered from Reims (Marne).

While waiting for the water to be analyzed by the ARS, the city councilor advised to boil it before drinking it.

The temporary interruption of the supply is in fact likely to have health consequences linked to the variation in pressure in the pipes.
