Officials in Poland said they found a large amount of heroin with an unexpected passenger, and airport security agents killed an 81-year-old Danish woman, who was traveling from Africa to Canada, for possessing a large amount of heroin.
Customs officers at Frederic Chopin Airport decided to check the luggage of the woman, who is walking with difficulty and in need of assistance, last Sunday after she suspected her flight path and disordered behavior, and packages containing 5 kilograms of heroin were discovered under the bottom of a false suitcase, and denied the woman, who is traveling from Malawi and Kenya via Doha and Warsaw, committing any offense and saying that her family members gave her the bag with gifts to their relatives in Canada.
According to a spokeswoman for the Warsaw Prosecutor's Office, Alexandra Skrzynieres, she has been detained for three months and prosecutors have opened an investigation.
Under Polish law, she faces up to 15 years in prison for illegal drug possession.
According to the East Bay Times, Danish officials confirmed that a Danish citizen was being held in Poland and said the ministry was "providing consular assistance."
