The "Baby Crying Sumo Tournament" was held at a shrine in Tottori City, where babies competed to see who could cry the fastest.

This tournament is held at Karo Shrine in Tottori City to pray for the healthy growth of babies. About 50 people, mostly babies, participated.

In the effort, two babies dressed in Kintaro's red warmer are held by local sumo wrestlers into the ring.

Then, when the wrestler shouts “Yoisho,” the wrestler lifts the baby up high, and the baby who cries first wins if the baby reaches the god with a cheerful cry.

Among the babies who participated, there were some who were dazed and did not cry. I was watching the expression with a smile.

Yoshiaki Okamura, chief priest of Karo Shrine, said, "I hope that the babies who participated this time will grow up in good health."

The father of a boy from Hokuei Town said, "He cried as usual. I want him to grow up to be a kind and energetic child."
