Hong Kong Holds Official Ceremony to Commemorate 77th Anniversary of Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression

　　On September 3, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held an official ceremony at the Memorial Garden of the Hong Kong City Hall to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, representatives of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of the Special Administrative Region, former Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region, senior officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, members of the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, members of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and representatives of veteran groups , representatives of the National People's Congress from Hong Kong, representatives of the Hong Kong National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, representatives of Heung Yee Kuk and representatives of various uniformed teams attended the commemorative ceremony.

　　The commemorative ceremony included the playing and singing of the national anthem, the flag raising ceremony, the firing of guns by the police rifle honor guard, and the silence and bowing of all the attendees.

　　In order to remember the Chinese people's resistance to Japanese aggression and to cherish the memory of the martyrs and dead compatriots, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress decided in February 2014 to designate September 3 as the Victory Day of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced in August 2014 that an official ceremony will be held on September 3 every year since that year to commemorate the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
