About half a year after the start of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, an event was held in Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture, in which people who had evacuated from Ukraine acted as instructors to make traditional lucky charm dolls.

This event was organized by the Tokai International Exchange Association to let people know about Ukrainian culture.

People who have evacuated from Ukraine and their supporters will become instructors and make "Motanka dolls", which are Ukrainian national amulets and are said to protect against disaster and bring in happiness.

The participants picked up the prepared yarn and made dolls while being taught in simple English and gestures.

In addition, there was also a corner introducing Ukrainian culture at the venue, where sunflowers, which symbolize Ukraine, and borscht, a traditional home-cooked dish, are explained with photographs.

Samara Vladislava, who lives in Tokai City and supports people who have evacuated from Ukraine, said, "I want people to be interested in Ukraine, even a little, from the small things of lucky charm dolls."
