Dr. Terry Bruce, professor of economics at the Institute of Political Science in Paris and an international expert, acknowledged that the Russian decision would be unbearable for Europe, which is very harsh, and that Europe has entered a major recession, stressing that the decision may lead to riots and social chaos, because people will lose their jobs in factories after their hiatus.

In his speech to an episode of "Beyond the News" program, Bruce said - that Europe is facing an economic war, and there are attempts to sow discord and disputes between its countries, and it is likely that some countries will return to the Russian embrace because they will not bear the consequences of the energy crisis.

The RIA Novosti news agency had quoted "Gazprom", the Russian energy giant, as announcing the closure of the gas supply pipeline to Europe, "Nord Stream 1" for an indefinite period.

This action comes amid Western accusations that Moscow used gas as a pressure card in the war on Ukraine.

And about the options of the Europeans after the decision to stop gas supplies through “Nord Stream 1”, the professor of economics explained that governments will ask their citizens to reduce demand for gas, and in the same context he criticized policy makers on the continent because they talked about other alternative sources for Russia without this happening.

Dr. Thomas O'Donnell, an energy expert and professor at the Hertie Hochschule in Berlin;

He spoke to the episode "Beyond the News" about an economic war that Europe is facing in parallel with the war that Russia is waging on Ukraine, and said that the Russian decision will have repercussions, including the closure of factories.

He ruled out that Russian President Vladimir Putin would succeed in splitting the European ranks, as the opinion polls in most of Europe indicate that peoples will not surrender and will stand with their governments because they know who caused the tragedies in Ukraine, according to him.

He revealed that 77% of Germans confirmed that they would not surrender.

According to O'Donnell, Europe will find alternatives to Russian gas from other countries in the world, and they will help each other to overcome the current crisis, noting that Germany has created options to confront the crisis, as it has opened coal factories, for example.

In response to the European sanctions policy

From the Russian point of view, the researcher in economic affairs and international relations, Dr. Stanislav Mitrakhovich, confirmed that the decision to stop gas supplies through "Nord Stream 1" comes in response to the European sanctions policies on Moscow, as Europe - and the speaker spoke - wants to destroy the Russian economy through Penalties.

He added that the decision of "Gazprom" was a step by step.

He said that most of the Russian revenues come from the oil that the Europeans will impose on the embargo, but the gas is still not subject to sanctions, and therefore Russia will not lose now, according to the guest.

And on whether the Russians are betting on the division of the Europeans, the Russian guest admitted that this is exactly what Putin wants, especially since there are European countries that completely depend on Russia, and Bulgaria and Greece - for example - will suffer economically and will not agree with the decisions of the European Commission and countries that are trying to impose its strategy.
