A total of 36 hectares of vegetation, cultivated land and forests was destroyed on Tuesday by several fires in Aveyron.

Three separate fire starts were noted by firefighters around Saint-Affrique, Rullac-Saint-Cirq and La Selve.

The first disaster required the intervention of forty firefighters and four Canadairs, specifies Actu Occitanie.

Firefighting aircraft made 22 liquid drops to fight the fire.

The firefighters of Aveyron received on the occasion of these multiple outbreaks the support of colleagues from other departments.

Firefighters from Tarn and Hérault went there to lend them a hand.

A representative of the Aveyron departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS) established a link between the harvests carried out by farmers and these fires.

The specialist insisted on the importance of firewall measures, such as the presence of a water reserve at the harvest site.
