• US Health gives the green light to the new vaccines against Covid-19 from Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech

The European regulatory agency EMA has just announced the positive recommendation for the adapted vaccines from Moderna (

Spikevax

) and Pfizer-BioNTech (

Comirnaty

) as a booster dose against covid-19 in people over 12 years of age who have received at least the primary vaccination complete.

As announced, the agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use today held an extraordinary meeting to make a

regulatory decision regarding

the approval requests submitted by the aforementioned companies for their specifically adapted vaccines both against the original strain and

against the BA.1 of the omicron variant.

Moderna's BA.1-adapted version already has conditional approvals in the UK, Switzerland and Australia, and both companies received US FDA clearance yesterday to use their adapted vaccines as booster shots.

Just yesterday, the FDA approved the bivalent vaccines of both companies, but in this case those that contain two components of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA, one from the original strain of the virus and another common in the BA.4 and BA lineages. 5 of the omicron variant.
