In the past few days, the habitat of wild salamander (giant salamander) has been washed away due to continuous rainfall. A salamander weighing 2.38 kg and 70 cm in length was stranded on the Lanzhou section of the Yellow River. After being rescued by relevant departments, it was recovered in isolation.

According to the rescuers, the salamander has no obvious trauma and is relatively ferocious and agile. After returning to normal eating, it will contact relevant departments for release.

The giant salamander is a national second-class protected amphibian wild animal. It has very strict requirements on the living environment. It mainly inhabits caves and dark rivers. Its history can be traced back to 350 million years ago, and it is known as the "living fossil".
