Biking is popular with everyone in Amsterdam, as it is one of the best ways to enjoy the city's canal-side roads, bridges and beautiful squares there.

Among the cycling enthusiasts there is an activist named Miriam Korzelius, who likes to take her bike with her wherever she goes.

It is noteworthy that every person in the Dutch city owns at least one bike, according to the statistics.

But for those who haven't tried cycling yet, Kurzelius has made it her mission to improve safety for cyclists in the city, and to attract more people to this great means of transportation.

It seems that all over the Netherlands, people, whether rich or poor, old or young, ride bicycles.

This tradition goes back more than two centuries, when King Willem II was among the first to own a bicycle.

Corzelius says:

"When the others saw it, they wanted to have a bike too."

Meanwhile, members of the royal family in the Netherlands are still fans of cycling, as Princess Ariana rides a bike while she goes to school every day.
