His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Emirates Falconry Federation, directed the launch of the first edition of the “Falcon Federation Cup for Falcons Racing in Telwah” category “Farkh” during the period from the seventh to the 14th of December of this year, in Al Ruwayyah Square in Dubai, for three categories, including: The category of “Sheikhs”, “Public Open”, and “Public Owners”, with five runs for each category for a distance of 400 metres, and the types of falcons include “Jir Shaheen, Jir Tabaa, Pure Gear and Qarmousha”.

His Highness, while presiding over the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Falconry Federation, praised the great attention paid by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, to this sport, which is closely linked to the culture and heritage of the UAE and the Arab Gulf region in general. His Highness presented it as a form of support and encouragement for falconry and its competitions to preserve this ancient heritage sport.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: “We directed the organization of the tournament annually to confirm the continuous efforts of the Federation to support and develop this sport and its development, and to motivate its practice. A leader in falconry and other sports, especially those related to the culture and history of the region.”

For his part, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Vice-President of the Emirates Falcon Federation, stressed the importance of this tournament, and its consistency with the Federation's goals and vision aimed at upgrading and developing the sport of falcons, and achieving its sustainability, and the federation's mission to spread the foundations and rules of falconry and introduce them to all. groups of society, and focus on establishing a base of practitioners, and spreading the cultural heritage of the UAE around the world.

The tournament consists of 12 main rounds, with four runs for the categories: “Sheikhs,” “The Public is Open,” and “Public Owners,” and three cup runs with one run for the aforementioned categories. The top five places in the main matches qualify to compete in the Fed Cup matches.

The championship is the first of its kind, which the Federation was keen to organize at the beginning of the falcon racing season, in line with its strategic objectives to provide various benefits and championships for falconers, spread the culture of practicing falconry and promote its unique principles and values.
