Historian and writer, Jean-Pierre Gaildraud was in close contact with harkis since in 1960, he was an officer of the French contingent, and chief of harka in small Kabylie.

In addition to his memories of his discovery of Algeria, he tells us about his links with his soldiers, and the fate that was reserved for them at the end of hostilities, for those who came to France as for those who remained there. .

For sixty years, Jean-Pierre Gaildraud has been witnessing his story in high schools and colleges all over France.
