A similar intervention took place as recently as Monday, when two journalists were arrested by the police while filming environmental activists blocking a road.

Both are said to have stated that they were at the scene for journalistic purposes.

In July, the police also intervened when an SVT reporter filmed the police station in Rinkeby for a television feature.

The incident was reported by SVT to the Judicial Ombudsman (JO), who decided to investigate the case.

"The police should not intervene"

They see the fact that the police repeatedly prevented journalists from carrying out their work in a short period of time as serious.

- Every case where things go wrong, where it involves interference with democracy, journalistic integrity and other things, we naturally take very seriously.

The police should not intervene in journalistic work, says Varg Gyllander, press manager at the police, to Kulturnyheterna.

He believes that recent events must be put into perspective.

- There are three individual cases over a number of months.

And yes – every single case where a mistake has been made is of course very unfortunate.

But there are an awful lot of instances where journalists and police work in the same place where it works just fine.
