The bon dance produced by Ryohei Kondo, the artistic director of the Saitama Arts Theater in Saitama City, was completed, and on the night of the 26th, the participants enjoyed dancing.

This Bon Odori, named "Saisai Bon Odori", was created by Ryohei Kondo, a dancer who was appointed as the artistic director of the Sainokuni Saitama Arts Theater in April this year, to boost Saitama's artistic activities. .

The completed Bon dance was to be performed at an event held in Chuo Ward, Saitama City, and Mr. Kondo danced with the locals on the night of the 26th.

Kondo played a central role in creating the lyrics and choreography for this Bon Odori, based on senryu poems sent by the citizens of Saitama Prefecture that expressed their feelings for Saitama Prefecture.

The Bon Odori includes the chants of “Sai Sai Sai no Kuni,” and the choreography incorporates movements reminiscent of the prefecture's thriving agriculture industry.

The people who gathered at the venue danced with smiles to the music and enjoyed the new Bon Odori.

An elementary school student who participated said, "I'm glad that this kind of song was born while there was not much good news due to the corona wreck, and everyone could enjoy dancing."

Mr. Kondo said, "Seeing the children's happy faces made me feel glad that I made it. I want to spread it throughout the prefecture."
