The murder case of a female college student in Nanjing was held today (26th) in the second instance of the Intermediate People's Court of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. The court did not pronounce the verdict in court. The main culprit, Hong Qiao, claimed that he was innocent and had a mental illness. The court rejected the request for a psychiatric appraisal.
Case history: On August 4, 2020, the Public Security Bureau of Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture issued a notice saying that on July 18, 2020, it received an investigation report from Qixia Branch of Nanjing Public Security Bureau: Li Mouyue (female, 21 years old, Jiangsu Province) Baoying people) went from Nanjing, Jiangsu to Menghai, Yunnan, whose whereabouts are unknown.
After investigation, it was found that Li Mouyue's boyfriend Hong Mou (male, 24 years old, from Nanjing, Jiangsu) was suspected of committing a major crime.
On August 3, 2020, Menghai Police and Nanjing Police arrested Hong Mou, Zhang Mouguang (male, 21 years old, from Suqian, Jiangsu) and Cao Mouqing (male, 20 years old, from Nanjing, Jiangsu) and other criminal suspects in Nanjing. They were arrested and found the buried body of Li Mouyue in the forest on the outskirts of Menghai County on the same day.
It was initially found that the criminal suspect Hong Mou, Zhang Mouguang and Cao Mouqing conspired in Nanjing. Zhang Mouguang and Cao Mouqing went to Menghai County to lure Li Mouyue to the outskirts of the county on the evening of July 9, 2020. Killed and buried in the forest.
On September 11, 2020, the Menghai County People's Procuratorate issued an important case information disclosure: After accepting the case, the court approved the arrest of the criminal suspect Hong Qiao on suspicion of intentional homicide and theft on September 4, 2020; Cao Zeqing and Zhang Chenguang were arrested on suspicion of intentional homicide; suspect Qi Wenqiang was arrested on suspicion of theft.
On July 7, 2022, the Intermediate People's Court of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province publicly sentenced the defendants Hong Qiao, Zhang Chenguang, and Cao Zeqing to intentional homicide, and the defendants Hong Qiao and Qi Wenqiang committed theft. Political rights for life, sentenced to two years and six months in prison for theft and a fine of RMB 10,000. Several offenses were punished together. It was decided to execute the death penalty, deprived of political rights for life, and a fine of RMB 10,000. They were sentenced to death for intentional homicide, suspended for two years, and deprived of political rights for life; Qi Wenqiang was sentenced to two years in prison for theft and a fine of 8,000 yuan.
