From the bottom to the top – that's what Jennifer Lopez sang about in 2002's “Jenny from the Block” when she first met her now-husband Ben Affleck.

It's always been important to J.Lo to remember where she's from.

Namely from the same neighborhood as Ralph Lauren: Both are from the Bronx, both are children of immigrants.

Lauren's parents once emigrated to the United States from Belarus, and Lopez's from Puerto Rico.

At her Super Bowl performance two years ago, J.Lo's daughter sang Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA."

It was a protest against Trump's immigration policy and a statement: America is not just cowboys with ranches that are hundreds of years old, white bankers from Manhattan and blonde Hollywood actors, America is also immigrant children from the poorest neighborhoods in the country.

So it's only fitting that J.Lo wore three Ralph Lauren dresses to her second wedding this weekend.

She and Ben Affleck - dressed in a cream white tuxedo jacket, white shirt, black bow tie and black pants, also by Ralph Lauren - were married at Affleck's Georgia estate, where the two were scheduled to wed in 2003.

Ralph Lauren, American Vogue and Jennifer Lopez herself released the first details about the wedding dresses late Tuesday evening.

Vogue wrote, "J.Lo had a very specific idea of what her wedding and Ben Affleck's wedding would look like, including their dresses." All three have very low backs and are similarly form-fitting.

Though the dresses are far from demure, Lopez and Affleck made a conscious decision not to be too obvious: Guests were asked to dress in all white.

The first dress

The mermaid dress that J.Lo wore to the ceremony was also meant to have symbolic value.

Ralph Lauren tailors sewed the train from more than 1,000 handkerchiefs and a total of 500 meters of fabric.

Ralph Lauren shared, "Each handkerchief becomes a nostalgic yet modern keepsake and heirloom." The bodice of the dress echoes the ruffled theme of the train in the short sleeves.

The stand-up collar is studded with several dozen feathers.

J.Lo wore a seven-foot veil and pearl and diamond jewelry by Japanese brand Mikimoto.

The second dress

She later changed into the second dress, which glittered to match the evening.

In 700 working hours, 30 tailors sewed hundreds of strings of pearls over a low-cut corset.

The third dress

J.Lo didn't wear a veil again until the end of the evening: this time it was little longer than a hood.

With her third dress, also in a mermaid shape with a diamond-shaped neckline and embroidered with hundreds of crystals, she wore $3 million, 27-carat diamond flower-shaped earrings by Samer Halimeh.

The three dresses had little to do with the minimalist trend that many celebrities have seen in recent years.

But by deciding against lace trimmings, J.Lo followed the spirit of the times.

“Lace is currently taking a break,” is the motto of the wedding dress designers at Kaviar Gauche this summer.

In Germany too, brides who can afford it are increasingly wearing three dresses on their wedding day: a simple one for the wedding ceremony, a more opulent one for the cake and a sparkling one for the dance floor.

Jennifer Lopez wore two different dresses at the first wedding in Las Vegas in July.

To date, however, there are hardly any details about them.

The 53-year-old Lopez and the 50-year-old Affleck had apparently married in a very small circle, with only their children.
