The government will ease entry restrictions for foreigners for tourism purposes over border measures against the new coronavirus.

So far, we have limited tours to tours with a tour conductor, but we plan to allow tours without a tour conductor.

In June, the government resumed the acceptance of foreigners for tourism purposes, but in addition to requiring all immigrants to obtain a visa, it is limited to tours with a tour conductor, and infection control measures established by the government. We ask that you follow the guidelines of



More than two months have passed since the reopening, but the number of tourists entering the country remained at about 7,900 last month, which is significantly below the level before the spread of infection.



Under these circumstances, the government has established a policy to allow tours that are limited to tour conductors even if there is no conductor.



Travel agencies have pointed out that European and American tourists, who prefer to travel on their own, are reluctant to travel to Japan because tours with escorts have a low degree of freedom of movement.



However, personal travel will continue to be prohibited, and travel agencies that arrange tours will be required to manage schedules and to follow guidelines for dealing with infected people.



The government plans to ease these restrictions as early as next month.
