German airliner makes emergency landing due to espresso machine

A malfunctioning espresso machine has forced a German airline Lufthansa flight from Newark, New Jersey, to Frankfurt, to make an abrupt landing in Boston, the airline said Tuesday.

The smell of burning was noticed in the first class kitchen while the plane was on its way to its destination last night.

The pilots decided to land in Boston because the source of the smell was not initially clear.

A Lufthansa spokesman said: "Safety is always a priority."

After the plane landed, technicians who discovered the machine's malfunction examined it and repaired it.
