China News Agency, Beijing, August 23 (Reporter Chen Su) The Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a high temperature red warning on the 23rd. So far, China has issued a high temperature red warning for 12 consecutive days.

On the same day, relevant experts from the China Meteorological Administration said that it is expected that the high temperature weather across the country will ease by the end of August.

Since July this year, there has been a continuous and large-scale extreme high temperature weather process in southern China. The China Meteorological Administration recently announced that the intensity of this round of high temperature weather has reached the strongest since China has complete meteorological records (since 1961).

At the online briefing held by the China Meteorological Administration that day, Chen Tao, chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory, said that the high temperature and heat wave in the south this summer is a very rare weather event.

Since late July, the Central Meteorological Observatory has issued more than 30 high temperature warnings in a row. Since August 12, it has issued a high temperature red warning for 12 consecutive days.

At the same time, in response to the high temperature and little rainfall in the south, a meteorological drought warning was also issued.

This summer, the temperature in many places in the Yangtze River Basin broke through historical extremes.

On August 13, the highest temperature in Zhushan, Hubei reached 44.6 ℃, setting a new record for the highest temperature in Hubei.

Since July, the highest temperature in 16 districts and counties in Chongqing has set historical extreme values since the local meteorological record. Among them, on August 18 and 19, Chongqing Beibei experienced a high temperature of 45°C for two consecutive days, breaking the city's extreme high temperature record.

In the face of the continuous high temperature, many netizens said that they have been "hot and numb", and the cases of heat stroke and heat stroke have increased significantly in many places.

This round of high temperature weather also has a great impact on China's energy security and agricultural production.

How long will the heat last?

Chen Tao said that in the next three to four days, the cold air in the north will generally become more active, and it is expected that the typhoon will affect China on the 25th, which will be beneficial for alleviating the high temperature in the southern region.

It is preliminarily predicted that in the next week or so, the range of high temperature weather in the southern region will be reduced and the intensity will weaken, and the high temperature will generally ease to a certain extent.

Among them, the high temperature weather in Jianghan and Jianghuai will be relieved first, Hunan, Jiangxi and Zhejiang will be relieved two days later, and will be relieved after the 26th and 27th, and the high temperature in eastern Sichuan and Chongqing will be relieved the latest. The high temperature will ease after the 30th.

"In general, after the end of August, the high temperature weather in most parts of China can basically be relieved."

Chen Tao said that although the high temperature in the south will ease in the next week, because the subtropical high pressure system that controls the high temperature will continue for a period of time, the precipitation in the current high temperature area will still be low for a period of time in the future, and it will not immediately change to a rainy and cool state. , the forecast of the high temperature trend for a longer time in the future needs to be further monitored.
