The number of people killed in a traffic accident in Turkey's Mardin province has risen to 20 in recent days, including a police officer.

Another 26 people were injured, six of them seriously.

  On the evening of the 20th, near a gas station in Derek District, a truck failed to brake and rolled over after hitting two cars. When police, firefighters, and medical staff rushed to the scene to carry out rescue work, another truck lost control and crashed. Vehicles and people on the scene, causing serious casualties.

  The two truck drivers involved have been arrested, and the local prosecutor's office has begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.
