Game of Thrones
came to an end after eight seasons, an ending that didn't satisfy fans...or George RR Martin.
The author of the literary saga has indeed confided that he would have preferred “at least” two additional seasons before closing the chapter and moving on to
House of the Dragon
, the first episode of which aired yesterday in the United States.
Only, for HBO, it was time to end it and the channel had the last laugh.
"I was saying it would need at least 10 seasons, maybe 12 or 13. I lost on that," the novelist told the Wall Street Journal.
A little slow
What George RR Martin fails to say is that the
Game of Thrones
series followed his books… which are still not finished!
The writer indeed takes his time (too much for the taste of his fans) to put an end to his project
A Song of Ice and Fire
, the first book of which was released in 1996. Since then, five books have been published out of the seven planned. !
He has been working on the sixth volume, entitled
The Winds of Winter
, for a good ten years, and his publisher is still awaiting the proofs.
HBO obviously does not have the same patience as Westeros fans and preferred to offer them its own ending and move on to spin-offs.
