International Online Report (Reporter Wei Shuli): Recently, the reporter visited the Zhuoer Brigade of the Daxinganling Detachment of the Forest Fire Brigade of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and was moved by the story of such a "blue friend".

His name is Zhang Xingyu, and he is a firefighter from the 15th Squadron of the Chuoer Brigade. He joined the team in 2019 and has been a firefighter for 3 years.

He believes that firefighters are the most dangerous profession in peacetime, but also the profession with the strongest sense of honor and responsibility.

After joining the team for more than 10 days, Zhang Xingyu participated in the task of putting out forest fires for the first time, wearing a handsome orange-red shirt to protect the primitive forest of the motherland, which made him very excited.

But did things really go so smoothly?

Zhang Xingyu recounted his first experience of participating in "fire"...

On the 10th day when Zhang Xingyu joined the Chuoer Brigade, he received the task of garrisoning Yong'an Mountain in the primeval forest area in the northern part of the Daxing'an Mountains. On the second day of arriving at Yong'an Mountain, he received the task of putting out fires.

"At that time, wearing an orange-red shirt to go to the fire, to put out the fire, to protect the forest, made me very excited and very excited." Zhang Xingyu recalled.

However, the reality is far from what he imagined.

Zhang Xingyu and his teammates took a helicopter to the vicinity of the fire. Satellite positioning showed that the straight-line distance between the helipad and the fire was less than 3 kilometers, so fire rescue personnel needed to walk up.

Zhang Xingyu said: "I thought it was only more than 2 kilometers at the time. There was no problem with physical fitness. At the beginning, I could help other teammates." Noon in July was the hottest time of the day. Zhang Xingyu was carrying a weight of 25 kilograms on his back. The rucksack, wearing thick airtight protective clothing, quickly felt exhausted.

When approaching the fire, Zhang Xingyu already felt a little dehydrated. At this time, the squad leader saw his state and took his rucksack to let him adjust his state not to fall behind.

The original forest area is difficult to walk, and the short distance is 3 hours.

After arriving at the fire scene, Zhang Xingyu was assigned the task of following the experienced firefighters to clean up the line of fire.

The first day of putting out the fire was tight and the task was heavy. At night, instead of setting up a tent, I slept on the ground.

Zhang Xingyu recalled: "I was very impressed. I could see the stars as soon as I opened my eyes. I felt very excited at the time."

However, a rain two days later made him suffer.

Although the tent was set up, the air was still very humid after the rain, and Zhang Xingyu developed eczema, which was sore and itchy.

The successive blows made Zhang Xingyu lose his courage.

"At that time, my heart was already fluctuating, and I felt that this profession was too tiring." Zhang Xingyu recalled that at that time, the squad leader stood up and had a heart-to-heart talk with the new firefighters for psychological counseling.

"'If you don't fight this fire, someone has to fight. Who will? Why not you?' The squad leader's spirit touched me, and he felt like he was glowing when he said this," Zhang Xingyu said. The profession of firefighters and firefighting have a whole new understanding. Someone has to stand up, someone has to stand in front of the people. If there is no one, I would like to be this person."

From being a novice behind to become an experienced firefighter, from confusion to firmness, almost every new firefighter has to go through the process. This process has witnessed the growth of generations of fire rescuers.

Now Zhang Xingyu not only performs well in the main responsibility of fire prevention and fire fighting, but also has been admitted to the Beijing Fire and Rescue College with the support of the detachment and brigade and his own efforts.

In a few days, Zhang Xingyu will go to Beijing to continue his studies. After returning from his studies, he will continue to protect the ecological security of the motherland's northern Xinjiang with a more professional attitude.
