Fukushima Prefecture announced on the 21st that 3,395 people were newly confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
It was the largest number of announcements ever made on a Sunday.
Infections have been confirmed in the prefecture for 241 days in a row, bringing the total number of infected people to 131,653.
