A man in England who murdered his wife hours after they celebrated their wedding has been sentenced to life in prison.

A court in Bradford, England, ruled on Friday, the PA news agency reported.

A dismissal is therefore possible after 21 years at the earliest.

The crime happened in October 2021 in the English county of West Yorkshire.

After the marriage, the couple is said to have celebrated in a pub.

A court jury found it proven that the 45-year-old killed his 52-year-old bride that same evening or the next day.

The victim is said to have suffered "significant injuries" to his neck.

After the fact, he is said to have first stowed the woman's body in a closet and later placed it in a suitcase in the undergrowth.

Days later he reported her missing.

The convict later pleaded manslaughter and stated that he did not want to hurt his wife.

The jury did not agree with this statement.
