Iwate Prefecture announced on the 19th that 1,655 new people were confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus in the prefecture.
It's the highest number of new infections reported in a single day so far.
The cumulative number of infected people reached 75,582.
In addition, two deaths were announced on the 19th, bringing the total number of deaths to 137.
