The former "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" winner Pietro Lombardi (30) will be on the jury again in the last season of the talent show.

After 2019 and 2020, the singer will take a seat on the DSDS jury for the third time, RTL announced on Thursday.

"It's an honor," Lombardi told the broadcaster.

The winner of 2011 was also Dieter Bohlen's "desired candidate" for the task, it said.

"Twelve years ago we met at DSDS.

Everyone knows that I've held him firmly in my heart ever since.

Guys, buckle up: DSDS 2023 – it will be awesome!" Said the 68-year-old according to the announcement.

The longtime head of the jury was replaced by pop singer Florian Silbereisen in season 19 because RTL wanted to fundamentally rebuild the show.

For the 20th and last season, the broadcaster brought Bohlen back again.

RTL has not yet announced who should sit next to him and Lombardi on the jury.

DSDS is the longest-lived casting show in Germany and reached a huge audience when it started in 2002, but it has become smaller and smaller over the years.

At the end of the first season in March 2003, 12.8 million sat in front of the screen.

By the 19th season in 2022, it was finally under two million.

The new and final season is scheduled to begin in spring 2023.
