Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, blood donation events have been canceled one after another, and in Tokushima Prefecture, the amount of blood for transfusion cannot be secured stably. I am calling for your cooperation.

According to the Tokushima Red Cross Blood Center of the Japanese Red Cross Society, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in the prefecture, the number of people who cooperate in donating blood is decreasing, and especially after the seventh wave in July, blood donation buses will be stopped. The number of companies and organizations is increasing.

For this reason, the amount of blood for transfusion that was secured last month fell below the amount required for stable supply of 147 people, and if this continues, there is a risk that the stable supply to medical institutions will be hindered.

A blood donation venue was set up at a commercial facility in Kitajima Town on the 16th, but the number of visitors was sparse, about 10 people an hour.

According to the staff, it is necessary to collect the blood of 40 people in a day, but as of the afternoon, only half of them have been collected.

Toshihiko Tamada, head of the Blood Donation Promotion Section of the Tokushima Red Cross Blood Center of the Japanese Red Cross Society, said, "There are always people who need blood transfusions 365 days a year, and the decrease in the number of people who donate blood makes them anxious. I would like your cooperation," he said.
