Vitali Klitschko and his wife Natalia are getting divorced.

"We filed for divorce together because we've been living apart for years and want to make it official now," the 51-year-old Mayor of Kiev told the Bild newspaper.

"We have a very good relationship and respect each other, but we've been living separately in different cities for a long time."

The former model, who also comes from Ukraine, married the boxer and current mayor in 1996.

The couple have three children together, Yegor (born 2000), Elizabeth (2002) and Max (2005), who is named after German boxing legend Max Schmeling.

"For me, it's like there are two different people.

One fights there, a global hero.

And then, of course, he's also just part of our family," the forty-eight-year-old, who lives in Hamburg, told the FAZ in April, a few weeks after Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine began.

"But it's been like that for a long time," she said.

“Outside, he was the boxer, the politician, the hero.

And then a father at home.

But it's incredible what he's doing right now, like so many others."

From Hamburg, Natalia Klitschko is involved in the “We are all Ukrainians 2022” initiative of the Klitschko Foundation.
