An event was held for high school students during the summer vacation to convey the attractiveness of working in the legal field with active judges, public prosecutors, and lawyers.

About 200 high school and junior high school students from all over the country participated online in the event jointly planned by the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Justice, and the Japan Federation of Bar Associations.

At the event, the NHK E-tele program "Mukashibanashi Court", which is based on the old tale "Tongue-cut Suzume", was screened. Based on that, I called out, "Please watch as if you were a lay judge."

In the program, a sparrow tries to kill an old woman in retaliation for having her tongue cut off and is accused of attempted murder. I explained.

The lawyer said, ``In the actual trial, Suzume may not even be released on bail. If you have a time machine, you'll know what you did, but it's difficult to make a judgment based on evidence alone. However, it's fascinating to share your wisdom and reach a conclusion that many people can agree with." was

A second-year high school girl from Kumamoto Prefecture said, "Hearing the story made me want to do something related to law for the benefit of society and vulnerable people."
