The CGT-Cheminots on Thursday denounced the unsanitary conditions of certain Ouigo trains.

The press release, written by the teams of the Lyon-Perrache station, was co-signed by those of Bordeaux Gare, Paris Montparnasse and Paris Gare de Lyon, reports

BFMTV

.

According to trade unionists, the situation is deteriorating more and more in the low-cost trains of the SNCF, impacting both travelers and employees.

“We are no longer in a position today to ensure decent travel conditions and to guarantee healthy trains for our travelers and, by extension, to ensure acceptable working conditions for railway workers”, affirms the CGT.

A search for profitability

Cockroaches and larvae in the wagons, toilets out of order, a faulty air conditioning system... Many pitfalls have been pointed out.

A train running between Paris and Lyon Saint-Exupéry is particularly targeted.

One of his wagons is apparently infested with cockroaches and larvae.

“The safety of the trains is ensured”, denounces the secretary of the CGT-Cheminots de Lyon-Perrache at

Rue 89 Lyon

.

“But they cut everything concerning comfort, cleanliness.

[…] With the Ouigo model, each kilometer must be used to the maximum, so the train must run non-stop.

According to the railway worker, the SNCF does not have enough emergency trains.

Despite the time required to clean the cars thoroughly, they spend very little time in maintenance before being put back into circulation.

For its part, the SNCF assured

BFMTV

that the Paris-Lyon train had been removed from the tracks and processed.

Not enough to convince users, who continued to share photos and videos of the infestation on social networks.
