In July, Amber Heard finally decided to appeal the verdict in the lawsuit she and her ex-husband Johnny Depp had brought against each other for defamation.
At the end of this highly publicized trial, she was ordered to pay a heavy sum to her ex.
And Johnny Depp had been found responsible for defamation through remarks made in the press by one of his advisers.
Monday August 15, the actress announced that she had hired a new team of lawyers to support her in this new round of the legal battle between the former spouses.

reports
.
However, Ben Rottenborn, who was his lawyer during the previous trial, remains on the defense team as co-counsel.
On the other hand, his other lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, withdraws.

Freedom of expression
Amber Heard told her spokesperson to explain this team change.
In a statement to several media outlets, he said of the appeal process: "When it comes to protecting the fundamental right of freedom of expression, we consider the decision of the jury - to paraphrase a famous quote – not as the beginning of the end, but simply as the end of the beginning.
A different court warrants a different representation, especially since so much new evidence is now coming to light.

In a joint statement, the actress' two new counsel, David Axelrod and Jay Brown, explained that the new lawsuit would have high-level implications.
"We are pleased to be able to represent Ms. Heard in this appeal, as this is a case that has significant First Amendment implications for every American," they wrote.
